Measure the width of the area to cover. Round up to the nearest foot.    ( i.e.  5’ 4” = 6’ )  See Diagram - EXAMPLE  1
If your cover will attach to the back wall: Measure the projection of the cover from the back wall, to the edge of the area to be covered. Round to the nearest 1/2 foot - full foot. ( i.e. 5’ 3” = 5’ 6”  or  5’ 7” = 6’ ) See Diagram - EXAMPLE  2
If your cover will attach to the roof eave: Follow directions for #2 above. Then measure the distance from the wall to the eave. See Diagram - EXAMPLE  3 Subtract measurement #3 from measurement #2, for the projection of an eave attachment. Round to the nearest 1/2 foot - full foot. ( i.e. 5’ 3” = 5’ 6”  or  5’ 7” = 6’ )
If you are just replacing an existing patio cover, and want the same size, measure the width and length of the existing cover itself. Do Not take any post into consideration when measuring. Make note whether the current cover is attached to the wall or the eave.
